Petunia 'Hanging' refers to trailing or cascading petunia varieties specially bred for use in hanging baskets, window boxes, and elevated containers. These petunias produce masses of colourful, trumpet-shaped blooms that spill over the edges of containers, creating a stunning waterfall of colour all summer long. Available in a vibrant mix of hues — including purples, pinks, reds, and whites — they are fast-growing, free-flowering, and low maintenance.

Hi I’m thinking about next year, I’m wondering would 1 packet per hanging basket suffice or will I need more? I have three baskets I like overflowing.

Hi, 1 packet should be enough for 3 baskets. However, petunias are quite tricky to grow from seed. The seeds are tiny and need light to germinate, so they should be sown on the surface without covering them with soil.

For bushier petunias, pinch out the growing tip once the young plants have around 4–6 true leaves. This encourages them to produce side shoots instead of growing as one long stem.
