1950s Thompsons sign

A unique opportunity to own a piece of Cork City history.

This is the original front panel from a Thompsons Bakery delivery van, which operated in Cork City during the 1950s and early 1960s. It would have sat just above the windscreen of the van.

The van’s body was made from fibreglass, allowing this piece to survive while the rest of the vehicle has long since disappeared. It is the only remaining part of the van, with the original Thompsons logo and hand-painted lettering still visible.

I have built a custom display box to house the panel, with LED lighting fitted behind it. It is ready to be wall-mounted and makes a fantastic display piece.

The original paintwork has been left completely untouched. It has naturally faded over more than 70 years, adding to its character rather than trying to restore it and lose the history. I have applied a clear protective lacquer to help preserve it for years to come.
