Rare Paul Barry "Slate of the Art" Brutalist Table Lamp - Handmade in Waterford (Unique/Collector's Piece)

A truly unique and rare example of Irish craft heritage – a sculptural table lamp, handcrafted by the acclaimed artist Paul Barry at his studio, "Slate of the Art," on Broad Street in Waterford.
This is not a mass-produced item, but a highly limited, flagship design from a small craft workshop. Due to the completely manual process of selecting and carving the stone, it is a one-of-a-kind collector's item.
Key Features & Design Artistry:
• Natural Raw Material: The heavy, solid base is masterfully crafted from natural Irish slate. It features an incredible, deeply chiseled texture that closely resembles natural rock formations or ancient tree bark.
• Brutalist / Organic Aesthetic: The slate has been artfully patinated with metallic tones of bronze, copper, and subtle green, perfectly fitting into the highly sought-after Brutalist and Organic Modern mid-century design trends.
• The Magic "Mirror" Illusion: This is the most spectacular and unique feature of this specific model. The artisan cut vertical openings through the thick slate block and fitted mirror panes deep inside. When the lamp is turned on, the light reflects off the internal mirrors, creating a stunning, deep, 3D architectural illumination.
Celtic Influence: The lower part of the stone base features beautiful, hand-carved concentric spiral motifs reminiscent of ancient Irish art. The original maker's label ("Slate of the Art - Handmade in Co. Waterford") is fully intact and perfectly preserved on the bottom of the base.
Excellent vintage condition. The stone has no cracks or chips, the internal mirrors are clean and undamaged, and the textured surface looks magnificent. Fully working. (Sold as a base, option to include a shade if requested).
A spectacular statement piece for any mid-century modern, brutalist, or contemporary interior, and a fantastic investment for collectors of unique Irish art and crafts.
