6ft x 3ft Custom-Built Snooker / Pool Table - Cues, Balls & Accessories

Custom-built 6ft x 3ft snooker / pool table in excellent condition, complete with two cues, 48mm snooker and pool ball sets, triangles and chalk.

I originally built this table after owning a couple of commercially available 6ft tables and being disappointed with them. One had a playing surface which was slightly warped, causing balls to run off to one side, while another had pockets that I found much too large, making potting too easy.

I therefore decided to build my own, concentrating particularly on making the playing surface flat, rigid and very well supported, while also giving it more realistic snooker-style pockets.

Construction

The playing bed is made from 18mm MDF and was sealed/primed with Zinsser B-I-N primer to provide additional protection against accidental spills and moisture.

The underside is very heavily reinforced, with double-thickness 18mm plywood supports running both lengthways and across the table. I essentially took the basic construction of the previous table and added considerably more support to prevent the playing bed from bowing or warping.

The result is an extremely rigid playing surface which has remained dead flat, with no problems with balls running off due to warping. I've included a photograph of the underside so the amount of reinforcement can be clearly seen.

The table also has adjustable levelling feet, allowing it to be accurately levelled once positioned. I've included photographs showing the playing surface checked using a long spirit level.

Cloth, cushions & pockets

The playing surface and cushions are covered in tournament-grade snooker cloth.

The pocket openings were deliberately made reasonably tight, similar to the Riley table I previously owned. They're intended to provide a proper challenge rather than the oversized, overly forgiving pockets often found on smaller home snooker/pool tables.

The exterior has also just been freshly repainted.

There are a few minor marks on the cloth from normal use, which I've shown in the photographs, but nothing that affects play.

Transport

The legs are removable, which makes transporting the table considerably easier. With the legs removed, the main table section is only approximately 145mm / 5¾in deep.

Because the table is very solidly constructed, two people are recommended for moving the main section.
