There are many, many legends in the sneaker mythos. Few, however, are as elusive as the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto, which was originally expected to drop back in 2004. Unfortunately, a retail release never came to be, and only very few pairs — about 12 or so — made their way to friends & family. But back in August of last year, rumor had it the collaboration would finally see the light of day in 2022. And now, this is more than certain, as official images have surfaced following a drove of leaks. The Yuko Shimizu-designed icon informs every part of the shoe, all the while floating across its light blue upper. In tandem with the white along the midsole, cages, and laces, this cool tone mirrors Hello Kitty’s own palette, drawing inspiration not only from her overalls but also her bright fur. Additionally, the heel counter is customized for further resemblance, dressed with whiskers as well as a bright red bow, the latter of which also appears across the tongue. And moreover, the insole features a landscape of lush greens and rainbows, further emulating the world of Sanrio.
