Vintage Michelin Red Guide France 1981 - Hotels, Restaurants & Maps

Original 1981 Michelin Red Guide to France, the famous annual hotel and restaurant guide used by motorists and travellers long before online maps and travel reviews.

At over 1,200 pages, this is a fascinating snapshot of travelling through France in the early 1980s, covering hotels, restaurants, Michelin ratings, historical prices, telephone numbers, garages, tourist information, road distances and detailed town and city plans.

Although primarily a French guide, the contents include information in several languages, including English.

Particularly interesting today as a piece of French motoring, travel and restaurant history. Explore familiar places as they were in 1981, discover which establishments existed and see how travel and dining have changed over the decades.

Original red hardback binding featuring the Michelin Bibendum logo, with the original ribbon page marker still present.

Good used vintage condition. This is a genuinely used travelling copy rather than a pristine collector's example. There is visible rubbing and wear to the cover edges and corners, along with previous owner's pen circles and marks on some listings, as shown in the photographs.

The binding remains intact and the pages are usable.

An interesting find for Michelin collectors, Francophiles, motoring enthusiasts, restaurant-history enthusiasts and anyone nostalgic for traditional European road travel.

Collection available in Gorey, Co. Wexford, or postage anywhere in Ireland at the buyer's expense.
