Description:
The Provenance: A Diplomatic Restoration
A major highlight of this 1986 flat-nose Saab 900i is its previous ownership by Mariusz Stus, the former Consul General of Poland in Belfast (2022-2024). A passionate vintage vehicle enthusiast, he discovered this car as a solid barn find and executed a massive, no-expense-spared restoration to an exceptional standard:
• Engine-Out Overhaul: Pulled for peak mechanical health; engine pistons fully redone.
• Engine Bay Detail: Fully stripped, cleaned, and meticulously refreshed.
• Underbody Protection: Entire undercarriage fully retreated and protected against the elements. Rock-solid shell.
As quoted by Ian from Saab Wisdom in Bray, Co. Wicklow (renowned Saab specialist) during its recent inspection: "This is the best under-the-hood Saab of its age I have ever seen."
Vehicle History & Paperwork:
This is an authentic, lifelong Northern Irish vehicle. Its genuine NI footprint gives absolute peace of mind regarding its history. Please note the car comes with a partial history portfolio. Because it was a true barn find, there is no early history paperwork prior to its rescue. However, since taking ownership, I have fully documented the project's final stages. Full physical receipts are present for all recent specialist work carried out and will be handed over to the new owner.
Condition & Recent Professional Detail:
The car has just undergone a comprehensive, multi-stage professional detail inside and out and is presented in absolutely spotless condition.
• The Look: Features a highly collectible, genuine retro rear window louvre, classic front fog lights, a sporty twin-pipe exhaust tip, and original metal hubcaps.
• Exterior: Metallic silver paint treated with Meguiar's ScratchX and all exterior black plastic trim chemically restored to a deep factory finish. 4 excellent, high-tread tyres fitted.
• Interior: Spotless interior vault. The only minor cosmetic flaw to note is a small burn mark on one of the internal door panels, as clearly shown in the photographs. Outside of this, the cabin is exceptional.
Extensive Recent Mechanical Work (Receipts Present):
• Brand new fuel pressure regulator installed.
• New brake setup all around.
• New gas struts fitted for the boot lid.
• Window regulators and closing mechanisms fully overhauled.
• Note on Starting: Runs and drives beautifully. Starts perfectly and fresh on the key when dead cold. Typical of these 1980s mechanical fuel injection models, it has a slight challenge/extra crank when starting warm (textbook Bosch K-Jet fuel accumulator vapor-lock quirk). Outside of this minor quirk, it is mechanically exceptional.
Legalities, Rare Extras & Reason for Sale:
• Included Rare Asset: The car comes with its original, highly valuable, and rare dateless Northern Irish registration plates (JIB 840). These specific dateless transfer plates are incredibly collectible and command a high standalone value in the UK market.
• Reason for Sale: Genuine reason for sale—releasing funds to secure the deposit for my first home.
• Freshly imported and registered on classic Irish ZV plates with a full 12 months of vintage motor tax paid (€56 annual rate).
• Officially 100% NCT EXEMPT FOREVER (40 years old milestone reached).
The physical Irish logbook (VLC) is currently processing following its successful NCTS appointment and will arrive in the post in a few days. A secure deposit holds the vehicle until it lands, at which point the car is completely taxed, legal, and ready to literally drive away by the new owner. Full media pack with numerous detailed photographs available upon request.
