1979 VW Bay RHD 2.0L Type 4 Engine
I've owned this vehicle since the 9th of September 2013 when it was purchased from Johnson Autoworks Ltd in England (receipt available). Imported and on Irish plates since 2017. Genuine reason for sale.

Good parts. Both front doors rebuilt with all seals replaced, arches, cab floor and any rust up front sorted out in 2024/2025 by a bodywork professional here in Wexford. Paint in these areas in good condition. Engine overhauled by Bugbitz in NI around 2022. There wasnt anything wrong other than a few small oil leaks but while the engine was out i got it overhauled with a new exhaust system. Starts and drives well although brakes are a little sticky due to very little use this last 2 years. I've kept up on maintenance over the last 13 years but to be honest there's nothing too complex on them. We've travelled all over Ireland, the UK and France and only broke down twice. Both were fixed at the side of the road. The underneath is in good condition and it has been dry stored most of the time ive owned it.
Bad Parts. Interior needs completion but does come with curtains and cushions for the bed. Rear end will need work as the panels around the boot lid, tail lights and the arches are rusted. Poor repairs carried out from before I owned the vehicle but nothing structural from what I can see. Also sliding door has a repair carried out which is showing through now. I was actually waiting for the sliding door and boot to become available as a part as its cheaper and quicker to just buy a new one, the LHS version is available and the RHS is in progress.
The best thing about these vans is nearly everything Is available in terms of spares and panels. There's more parts available now than when I bought it and the companies making them are excellent quality. VW spares in Kildare are there to support, supply and service.
This van is priced to sell with all work i see required being stated. Its not a show vehicle but with some work it will be worth considerably more however I do not have the time anymore to keep up with it. The 2 Litre engine is a vast improvement on the 1.6. Sale comes with all spares I own including a brand new engine lid, engine and brake parts etc.
