Framed Display of Vintage Capitol Records Tower Sleeve with Columbia 78 - Teddy Johnson (Beloved, Be Faithful)

Condition: New

If you like this framed piece of music memorabilia, make an offer. If you don’t ask, you’ll never know!

A striking piece of vintage Music memorabilia: a 1950s Capitol Records paper sleeve with the iconic Hollywood Capitol Tower artwork, displayed with a vintage Colombia 78 rpm record in a white box frame.

The sleeve is in Capitol's distinctive pink and cream, with the Capitol Tower towering over the Hollywood skyline and the period slogan "Capitol Artistes. Capitol Entertainment". It is printed as a registered user sleeve of EMI Ltd. The tower was completed in 1956 and is considered the world's first circular office building. The light on its spire still blinks "“Hollywood" in morse code.

The record is Columbia DB2759, Teddy Johnson's "beloved, be faithful", accompanied by Norris Paramor and his orchestra. It was Teddy Johnson’s first record and reached no. 1 on the sheet-music chart. He went on to finish second for the uk at Eurovision 1959 with Pearl Carr, singing “Sing, little Little Birdie".

Please note the record and sleeve were not originally issued together. The record dates from the early 1950s, and the sleeve dates from 1956 or later. They make a natural pairing: Columbia and Capitol were both part of the EMI family.
