Fabulous Antique W. Adams Two-Handled Tureen with Cacti Garden - A Fabulous Unique and Decorative Item for Display Indoors

A Lovely Unique and Decorative Item for Display on a Dresser, Sideboard, Conservatory or Anywhere Indoor Plants are Displayed – although I photographed it outside, it’s an indoor Cacti Garden!

I had this lovely Antique Tureen bottom that was missing its lid and due to its age, is probably better for display purposes. Way too pretty to just abandon, I decided to repurpose it as an indoor planter for a Cacti Garden

It is currently planted up with three different cacti with decorative stones and two colours/sizes of gravel, and the tureen should be big enough to hold this cacti garden for many years to come.

The tureen bottom is by and William Adams and Co. Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and dates to between 1891 and the early 1900’s, so over 100 years old and officially antique!
Medallion is the pattern name and it’s a lovely blue and white pattern featuring simple swags and delicate medallions in a sophisticated, yet simple design associated with the early Aesthetic Movement.

The Tureen is in great condition but as there are surface cracks on the handles, (which are old and stable) I wouldn’t lift it by the handles, just in case.

The cacti garden features three different varieties of cacti and some decorative rocks, and grey and black gravel.

The oval tureen measures just over 11.5 inches/29cm including the handles, and 7.5inches/19cm the other direction.

As cacti are slow growing and don’t need much water, the cacti in this cacti garden should be happy for many years to come. I would place a placemat under it when it has just been watered, but it should be fine without, the rest of the time.
