British 19th-century trade token: Cornwall / Cornish Mines 1 Penny Token (1812) (catalogued as Withers #675–677 / Davis #11–12).

​During the Napoleonic Wars, a national shortage of official British copper small change led mining companies and local merchants to issue their own commercial copper tokens to pay workers and facilitate local trade.
