Iconic little elves, the Smurfs make their first appearance in Johan and Pirlouit's album "La Flute à six Smurfs" invented by Peyo in 1958. Since then, these blue characters, cheeky and wearing white hair, have had adventures through numerous albums.
In 2020, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the comic strip and the work of Peyo as well as to the hundred or so iconic characters, all similar but different in character.
He is the chief of the village and a very powerful alchemist. Often he saves the Smurfs from the most perilous situations.
