Prob a typo on your part but silver changeover to cupronickel was 47 as opposed to the 967 youve wrote in your add description
Hello Ivy. Well spotted. Thanks for letting me know. Yeah .... you're right. From 1920 to the end of 1946 the British coins were 0.500 silver. Up to the end of 1919, the coins were sterling silver i.e. 0.925. The costs of World War One and Two drained the U.K. exchequer, so they had to cut back on silver. My mistake. I listen to a lot of music when typing .... including an American country rock band: Asleep at the Wheel. That says it all ......
Hello 1936. Yeah, I still have the box of old British coins. Do you live in the Westport - Castlebar area of Co. Mayo so that we could meet up somewhere, as it would save on postage. The coins are about half a stone in weight. Let us know what you think. Thanks.
Hello 1936. Just wondering if you got the message sent out this morning to say that I have still got the coins. The broadband- mobile phone signals are pretty poor throughout the year but tend to get worse during the spells of good weather and high atmospheric pressure. I also meant to say to you that I have to go to Dublin on Monday afternoon. I'll be in Heuston railway station around 1.40 pm and back there again about 5.40 pm. In between those hours I'll be up in the city centre.
