Description:
As part of a project promoted in collaboration with the municipality of Aveiro, which aims to stimulate artistic and numismatic creation among young people and the school community, the INCM minted a coin with the theme and which was designed by Ísis Martins , winner of the 2nd edition of the "Drawing the Currency" contest, which was attended by more than 800 students from the 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education in Aveiro.

In this coin, young Isis Martins decided to evoke the drama experienced by refugees aboard fragile and overcrowded vessels, proclaiming, with her 12-year-old natural optimism, that the sea can also save.
