Description:
The 20 euro copper coin dedicated to the "Art and Faith" series is enriched this year with a detail of the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica.

Artist Cristina De Giorgi has reproduced on the reverse side of the coin the upper elevation of the Basilica's façade where we can admire the dome in all its majesty.

On either side we see the two smaller domes and the 13 statues adorning the balustrade above the main entrance to Saint Peter's Basilica.

Many renowned architects and artists contributed to the design and construction of the dome from the beginning of the 1500's over almost a century: Donato Bramante, Raffaello Sanzio and especially Michelangelo Buonarroti.

It is one of the largest masonry roofs ever built, a symbol of both the Church of Rome and human creativity.
