Aquaforest AF Lava Soil Black 5L is a natural black aquarium substrate based on volcanic lava, enriched with essential minerals that support the proper growth and development of aquatic plants. It is ideal for freshwater aquariums, particularly planted tanks and aquascaping layouts.

Thanks to its high porosity, the substrate provides favourable conditions for the development of beneficial microorganisms that support the biological balance of the aquarium. Its unique structure facilitates plant rooting and improves water circulation within the substrate, allowing nutrients to be distributed evenly and absorbed more efficiently by the root system.

AF Lava Soil Black gradually releases valuable minerals into the water, providing plants with access to nutrients essential for their development. The substrate’s structure also helps prevent the formation of anaerobic zones where bacteria producing harmful hydrogen sulphide may develop.

The natural black colour of the substrate perfectly highlights the intense green colour of plants and enhances the aesthetics of underwater aquascapes.

Instructions for Use

Spread a layer of AF Lava Soil Black approximately 7 cm thick across the bottom of the aquarium. Then carefully fill the tank with water to a depth of approximately 10 cm, plant the aquatic plants and fill the aquarium with water to the desired level.

Important Information

The substrate has been thoroughly rinsed by the manufacturer. Despite this, slight cloudiness of the water may occur after the aquarium is filled for the first time. This is a natural and harmless phenomenon that usually disappears after approximately 12 hours.

Due to the high mineral content, the manufacturer recommends limiting the dosing of fertilisers containing trace elements for the first 6 months after setting up the aquarium to avoid their excessive accumulation.
