A magnificent axe used to shape cleft wooden logs into square section beams. as shown in the picture dated to the 15th century. Its in excellent condition, the blade is very sharp and ready for work. I have fitted a new hickory handle into the socketed head.
Difficult to date as the design remained unchanged for centuries but my best guess would be early 19th century.
