Vintage Stanley No4 plane
Description
A classic smoothing plane made in England during WW2 (1939 to 45). In very good condition, the body is clean and flat, the adjusters all work perfectly, the beechwood handles are original and in good shape.. The blade is full length, sharpened , set and ready to use.
During WW2 brass was restricted for use in munitions so Stanley devised a method of hardening rubber to make the adjuster knob on this plane. (see pictures) It was thought to be a temporary solution but these knobs have lasted perfectly for over 80 years.
