vintage mandolin - all solid wood

Beautiful vintage mandolin.
Plays and sounds great.
Somewhere between 60 and 80 years old.
The wood has aged well and the tone is complex, sweet highs and robust lows with great volume.
These old mandolins cut across well in sessions, in my opinion this is due to the many decades the spruce top/soundboard has been aging, a tone wood which is known to significantly improve over time.
Neck is straight and it’s been set up with a low action which gives it great playability for jigs & reels.

Spec;
Solid spruce top
Solid wood back and sides
Action is 1.75mm at 12th feet
Fingerboard is 28.5mm wide at the top of the neck
Best guess this was made between 1940 and late 1960’s.
Frets levels
Intonation is spot on
Great structural condition
Some scuffs and other signs of use.

In terms of sound, setup and playability, this is a far superior instrument than you would buy new for double the asking price.
