Laurence Sterne, one of the most important Anglo-Irish authors of the eighteenth century.

Laurence Sterne was a popular Anglo-Irish novelist and clergyman of the eighteenth century, best known for his 'The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy', and 'A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy'.

Sterne discovered his talent and love for writing late in his life, after writing 'A Political Romance' in support of his dean in a church squabble. After this, he dedicated himself to writing, beginning 'Tristram Shandy' and publishing in 1759. It was successful upon its publication, and he received a lot of praise and admiration for his work.

Tristram Shandy' is about the eponymous character, being a narration of his life.
