SOLD 11/5/2022 - Sealink Stranraer-Larne - we're better connected (c.1982)

Townsend Thoresen car ferries established in 1968 and acquired by P&O Ferries in 1987.

Sealink UK Limited was established in 1978 as a subsidiary of the British Rail group. In 1984 the British government sold the ferry company whereupon it was renamed Sealink British Ferries. In 1991 Sealink British Ferries was sold on again to become Sealink Stena Line. The Stranraer-Larne route started 1948 is still operated by Stena Lines. The Galloway Princess depicted on this badge was built in 1980 by Harland & Wolff Ltd and served the Stranraer-Larne route until 1995.

DESCRIPTION:
Size (Townsend Thoresen Fun Ship badge): about 2 3/16" diameter (55mm).
Material(s): steel body with printed paper insert .
Finish: insert printed lithography & laminated under a clear cellulose. Reverse side with a tin wash (very thin coating) or plastic backing.
Fittings: D-pin.
Approximate age: 1980's.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pins in working order. Tin wash worn, as is usual with older button badges.
