East German Collectible: GDR Medal for Excellent Service (Bronze Grade)

A genuine piece of Cold War history: the Medal for Excellent Service in the Armed Organs of the Ministry of the Interior (Medaille für ausgezeichnete Leistungen in den bewaffneten Organen des Ministeriums des Innern).
This medal was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR / DDR), conferred upon individuals and collectives for outstanding performance and contributions to strengthening the socialist state, typically within the People's Police (Volkspolizei), Border Troops, or other MDI branches.
Grade: Bronze (standard issue).
Period Awarded: 1959–1990.
Obverse Design: Features the GDR state emblem (hammer, compass, and wreath of corn) above the inscription: "FÜR AUSGEZEICHNETE LEISTUNGEN" (For Excellent Service).

it has it's original green ribbon with two thin white vertical stripes, mounted on the correct pentagonal suspension.
Excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear, consistent with a collectible of this age.
