Rare 1970s Dublin Club & Cinema Passes. Zhivago, Carlton, Papillon II

Description

Up for auction/sale is an incredible, untouched time capsule of 1970s Dublin social history. Discovered tucked away safely in a Beaumont attic, this 7-piece collection of original vintage complimentary passes captures the absolute peak era of Dublin's retro discotheque and cinema scene.
Perfect for serious Dublin ephemera collectors, local historians, or anyone looking to frame a genuine piece of the city's twentieth-century nightlife.
What’s Included in this 7-Ticket Lot:

• 3x Zhivago Discotheque Complimentary Passes (15 Lower Baggot St):
The crown jewels of the collection. Opened in March 1970, Zhivago was the undisputed, multi-story epicenter of Dublin’s seventies nightlife, famous for its red velour interior and the iconic slogan, "Zhivago – where love stories begin." These passes date back to the legendary era when Dublin's famous street-policing icon, Jim "Lugs" Branigan, famously kept order at the front door.
• 1x Carlton Cinema Admit-2 Pass (O'Connell Street) – Dated Jan 1974:
A gorgeous pink paper pass clearly stamped "JAN 1974". The Carlton was O'Connell Street's iconic 2,000-seat Art Deco picture house. Beyond movies, this pass comes from the golden era when the Carlton hosted historic live gigs by legends like Rory Gallagher and Johnny Cash.

• 2x Papillon II Discotheque Passes (Power’s Hotel, Kildare Street):
Beautifully preserved, textured animal-print style cards featuring their famous butterfly motif and the psychedelic club-night branding, "Where The Rainbow Ends." A fantastic look into the elite Kildare Street party scene of the mid-70s.
• 1x Astor Cinema Admit Pass (Eden Quay):
A crisp white pass from the classic Eden Quay cinema, complete with a handwritten manager's signature and the nostalgic retro rule: "The holder is not permitted to pass a queue."

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition given their 50+ year age. Crisp edges, vibrant inks, and completely uncreased. Kept in dry storage in a Northside attic for decades.
Delivery:
Available for collection or secure postage nationwide. Selling as a complete 7-ticket lot only.
