Sea loughs have some of the richest wildlife to be found about our coasts. Strangford Lough is the most spectacular of these. Its contorted shape and current-scoured bottom hosts an unparalleled range of wildlife habitats. The marine life is spectacular in its abundance and variety, with enormous populations of plants and animals, many of them extremely beautiful. The Lough is the most important site for Common Seals in Ireland, and there are smaller numbers of Grey Seals and even occasional Whales.
