Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (PC CD-ROM, 2004)

About the Game:

In this Mid-2000s classic step into the darker, more brutal sequel to The Sands of Time. Seven years after altering his destiny, the Prince is relentlessly hunted by The Dahaka, an unstoppable, time-bending guardian sent to erase him from existence.

Desperate to survive, the Prince travels to the Island of Time to prevent the Sands from ever being created.

Why It’s a Fan Favorite:

Free-Form Fighting System:
Massive upgrade from the original! Dual-wield weapons, decapitate foes in slow motion, vault off walls, and execute brutal combo strings. Widely considered to have the best combat in the trilogy.

High-Stakes Dahaka Escapes:
Whenever the monster appears, the color drains from the screen, heavy metal kicks in, and the game becomes an intense, high-speed parkour chase.

Iconic Mid-2000s Vibe & Soundtrack:
Leans heavily into classic 2000s edginess, complete with an adrenaline-pumping soundtrack featuring Godsmack ("I Stand Alone").

Secret Weapons & Alternate Endings:
Uncover secret Easter egg weapons hidden in the world (including a pink flamingo, a hockey stick, and a teddy bear!) and hunt down all 9 Life Upgrades to unlock the canonical Water Sword ending.

Gaming History:
The mechanics and wall-running systems developed for this game directly inspired Ubisoft’s creation of the first Assassin’s Creed!
