Vintage Elgin Diver

For sale is a very cool vintage Elgin automatic diver, with a silver sunburst dial, black rotating-style dive bezel, date window with cyclops magnifier and distinctive oversized crown.

The watch has plenty of vintage character. The dial presents nicely overall with some age-related marks/patina, while the bezel shows visible wear and fading consistent with use. The stainless-steel case is in good vintage condition with scratches and marks from wear.

The watch is running well and I’ve had it on the timegrapher, where it is showing approximately +5 seconds per day, 278° amplitude and 0.3ms beat error – very respectable figures.

The bezel is currently stuck/non-rotating, which I’ve reflected in the price. I have not attempted to force or repair it. Although the watch is marked 660ft / 200m Water Resistant, given its age it should be considered not water resistant unless professionally pressure tested.

Caseback is signed Elgin Automatic and carries reference FK-531-E. Currently fitted to a black perforated rubber/silicone dive-style strap, which suits it very well.

A really attractive vintage diver with a great wrist presence and a slightly unusual Elgin branding that you don't see every day.
