For sale is a scarce promotional mug issued Johnson & Johnson (Janssen laboratories) for their new product, NIZORAL SHAMPOO. This mug shows the Janssen company logo that was in use from 1956 until 1990, after which the logo was redesigned.

Nizoral was an effective anti-dandruff shampoo first launched in 1986 and containing the active ingredient Ketoconazole (1%), on pescription the concentration was double at 2%. Ketoconazole was developed in 1977 by Dr. Paul Janssen (1926-2003) of Belgium and it progressed to medical use from 1981. This anti-fungal agent was effective against the Malassezia species of pathological fungi which is useful in treating the causes of dandruff and other fungal skin conditions.

In 1953 Dr. Paul Janssen established his own research laboratory in Belgium and in 1955 marketed their first medicine (Neomeritine, an antispasmodic medication), later he went on to develop other successful anti-psychotic drugs. In 1961 his company was acquired by the pharmaceutical giant, Johnson & Johnson and who formed a partnership with Janssen, which was kept on as a pharmaceutical research company within Johnson & Johnson. In 2023, Johnson & Johnson formally retired the Janssen name, rebranding the reserach division as J & J Innovative Medicine.
