Fabulous Original Mid-Century Modern Extendable Dining or Kitchen Table For Four to Six People, Very Good Condition, Chairs NOT Included

I am continuing my effort to downsize as unfortunately we will have to move all our belongings into temporary storage due to builders carrying out major remediation works to our brand new home.

For sale here is a Fabulous Original Mid-Century Modern Extendable Dining Table For Four to Six People, Very Good Condition, Chairs Not Included

It’s a wooden table, probably teak, but with the benefit of a hard-wearing Formica/Melamine top in a glossy faux wood finish, which has been perfect for us as a family as it lessened the worry of kids spillages damaging a mid-century table with a wooden top!!
Now that my kids are older, (and hopefully wiser!), a wooden topped table is in use in our dining room, and this table is now surplus to requirements. We have kept it thus far, as it is a handy spare table to have, when hosting a large family group, as the legs are easily removed and the table can be stored pretty flat.

It is a very sturdy and heavy table, well made and dating to, we think the 1950’s to 1970’s. The underneath of the tabletop, and the legs, are solid wood.
The legs are a fabulous MCM shape, with a square profile at the top, gently tapering to a circular profile at the bottom. The legs screw off easily with only an adjustable wrench needed. The tabletop is also heavy, and is finished in a hard-wearing glossy faux wood finish.
The tabletop separates in the centre and an extra leaf can be added, to increase the table from a four seater to a six seater.

The table, without the extra leaf, measures 47.5 inches/121cm in length.
The table (which is not strictly rectangular, it has a slight taper) measures 36 inches/91cm in width at the centre, and 32.5 inches/ 83cm in width at the sides.
It stands 29 inches/74cm tall.
The extra leaf adds an extra 11.5 inches/29cm, making an overall length of 59 inches/ 150cm in length.

The table is in very good vintage condition for a piece over 50 years old. The underneath of the tabletop and legs are in very good condition with just some age-related minor scuffs, which I’m sure could be removed/sanded out. The Formica or Melamine tabletop is glossy, and again in very good condition for the age, with only a couple of minor scratches that are only visible from certain angles. There are no burn marks or melting, and no lifting of the surface. The edges of the table have some minor age-related scuffs which can probably be removed. The mechanism for using the extra table leaf is working perfectly, as is the mechanism to remove the legs. No washers or nuts are missing.

A great chance to purchase a genuine Mid-Century Dining Table in original condition, with no restoration having been carried out.

Perfect for everyday use, or occasional use as a kitchen table or dining table.

The table fits easily in a Renault Kadjar or similar, due to the fact that the legs can be taken off for transport.
