A remarkable survivor from the golden age of Swiss mechanical watchmaking.
Offered for sale is a beautiful vintage Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000, dating from approximately 1972 — a time when Omega was producing some of its most distinctive and technically interesting wristwatches. Introduced in 1972, the Cosmic 2000 combined an innovative case construction with the unmistakable design of the era. This particular example features a substantial stainless steel case, measuring approximately 37.9 mm across, excluding the crown. Its broad brushed surfaces, elegant silver dial, applied hour markers and distinctive red seconds hand give it a character that is difficult to find in modern watches.
Inside beats the genuine Omega calibre 1012, a high-quality Swiss automatic movement with 23 jewels, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Movement serial number: 33,793,586, dating it to approximately 1972. The movement is exceptionally clean and beautifully preserved, with no visible signs of corrosion or contamination. The watch runs extremely well and keeps excellent time. Its performance has also been checked on an electronic timegrapher, as shown in the photographs.
Original Vintage Character
The stainless steel case retains its characteristic 1970s appearance, with the natural marks acquired over more than half a century.
The silver dial shows the gentle passage of time, while its applied hour markers, Omega signature and distinctive red seconds hand remain particularly attractive.
The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet featuring an Omega-signed clasp.
I have deliberately avoided describing this watch as being in perfect cosmetic condition. It is not a new watch, nor should it pretend to be one.
Its small imperfections are part of its history — reminders of the many years during which this little mechanical machine has quietly measured the passing time.

A Little Piece of History
More than fifty years have passed since this Omega left the Swiss watchmaking workshops.
During those decades, the world has changed almost beyond recognition. Technology has advanced, fashions have come and gone, and countless modern devices have already become obsolete.
Yet this old Omega continues to do precisely what it was created to do — measure time through the movement of tiny wheels, springs and levers, without a battery or electronic circuitry.
There is something rather wonderful about that.
For someone who appreciates genuine vintage watches, traditional Swiss engineering and the quiet beauty of mechanical craftsmanship, this Seamaster Cosmic 2000 offers something that cannot simply be manufactured again: more than half a century of history.
