For sale is a BBC RADIO CIRCLE NORTH membership badge for the BBC Children's Hour radio club. Such a badge would have formed part of the membership pack to all new subscribers, the annual subscription costing a shilling (1/-).

This badge was the final issue for the BBC Radio regional areas. All the BBC regional radio station clubs used this same design of badge and distinguished only by a change of region name within the scroll bar, this one being for the Northern Radio Region of England.

All the BBC Radio clubs were set up essentially for listeners of their 'Children's Hour' program that was broadcast daily from 5pm to 6pm (1922 to 1964). The BBC Radio Circle Clubs were in existence from 1926 until 31st December 1933 when they were discontinued, citing "time and administrative costs" as major factors.

Size: about 7/8" x 1 1/8" (22mm x 28mm).
Material(s): Brass metal with 3 vitreous enamels.
Finish: Gilt.
Fitting: Pin.
Imprint: MILLER 118 BRANSTON ST. B'HAM REGD 779089 (end of 1932).
Approximate age: 1932 to 1933.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. light scratch mark in white enamel on clock face close to the 8 o/c and 9 o/c positions - but barely noticeable.
