For sale is a membership stickpin badge of the CHURCH OF ENGLAND BOYS' SOCIETY (CEBS). This badge shows the CEBS emblem with their motto ALL IN ONE.

The CEBS was established at Melbourne, Australia in 1913 and are still active as 'The Anglican Boys' Society', having changed their name in 1981. Membership was open to boys aged 6 to 18 years of age and activities at weekly meetings would have been similar to those of Boy Scouts. Up until 1986, CEBS members also had uniforms and would earn 'badges' as they progressed, the badges being sewn onto their uniforms. The CEBS also organised regular camps and rallies at either diocesan or national levels.

The original aims of the CEBS were stated as:

* To bring children and youth to commit themselves to Christ and his Church.

* To help them to develop spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.

* To develop strong branches of the Society with trained leaders in local churches in order to support the vision and mission of the local church, for children and youth to meet together,
encourage children and youth in Godly living.

* To encourage them to live according to the CEBS rule of life.

The CEBS have been in decline since the 1950's and in 2013 there were only 14 official branches within three of the Anglican Church's 23 dioceses. Membership had peaked at around 4,500 in 1945. This decline could be partially explained by the decline in the number of people who identified with the Anglican faith. In Australia as a percentage of population, Anglicans declined from 43.7% (1921) to 18.7% (2006).

The CEBS were organised under the auspices of the Church of England Men's Society (CEMS), now called the Anglican Men's Society.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. A very think black coloured encrustation.
