For sale is an attractive souvenir badge as would have been worn by a pilgrim on the annual Paris to Chartres procession and walk.

The CHARTRES PILGRIMAGE (Pèlerinage de Chartres) is an annual 60 mile procession and walk from the Notre Dame in Paris to the Notre Dame in Chartres that extends over three days. Chartres had been a popular place of pilgrimage since the 12th century but began to be formally organised since the early 1980s after a period of decline in the 1960s. Chartres claim to fame and its popularity as a site of pilgrimage is largely due to the presence of the 'Sancta Camisa', a piece of silk supposedly worn by the Blessed Virgin Mary at the birth of Jesus, donated to the cathedral by King Charles the Bald (reigned AD 875 - 877).
