For sale is a vintage cadet's badge of THE GIRLS LIFE BRIGADE (England & Ireland). The Girl’s Life Brigade (GLB) was a scouting organisation first established in Ireland in 1893 and then England in 1902. Scotland had a similar organisation established in 1900 called The Girls Guildry. In 1965 these three girls' scouting organisations were amalgamated to form the Girls Brigade. Initially, the three organisation were associated with the Anglican Church (Church of England & Church of Ireland) but nowadays the Girls Bridage is multi-denominational and international, with branches worldwide.

The original aim of the GLB was stated as .... “to help encourage girls to become responsible self-reliant, useful young women”. GLB members were known as cadets and membership was grouped according to age; Juniors (9 - 12), Seniors (13 - 14) and Pioneers (14 and older). Age groupings, motto and aims are quite different for the current Girl’s Brigade.

Size: about 15/16" (24mm) diameter.
Material(s): brass with 3 enamels.
Finish: tin plated.
Fitting: pin.
Imprint: MADE IN ENGLAND
Approximate age: late 1950s to c.1965.

CONDITION:
Excellent condition. No damage. Pin in working order.
