Vintage glass container with a cutout for a spoon

Description

A vintage glass container with a cutout for a spoon (designed for items such as mustard, preserves, or honey), most likely produced during the Art Deco period (the 1930s) by the British glassworks Geo. Davidson & Co. (pattern number 283).
It features a faceted, hexagonal design with vertical pressed detailing.
A rosette or "sunburst" motif appears at the base of each side panel.
The piece includes a fitted lid topped with a geometric, pyramidal finial.
A semicircular notch on the edge of the lid allows a small spoon to remain inside the container without the need to lift the lid.
Glass vessels of this type were exceptionally popular during the first half of the 20th century, gracing elegant tables as containers for liquid honey, preserves, jams, or homemade mustard. Similar faceted designs for condiments and sweets were also crafted by luxury French manufacturers, such as Baccarat and Cristal de Sèvres.
