For sale is a vintage enamel badge of the WORLD ALLIANCE OF YMCAs (Young Men's Christian Association). The YMCA, an international Christian youth movement, was established in 1844 and this badge displays their logo which was introduced in 1881. This logo was superceded in 2010 by a new new logo and the reorganisation renamed in a major rebranding during 2010.

The logo shows an open bible superimposed on the Chi-Rho symbol and a biblical reference JOHN XVII 21 which states “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (King James Bible version). The badge also makes reference to the five main regions of the world to emphasise the YMCA's international ethos ... "Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and America". On the buttonhole stud of this badge there is text that makes reference to the YMCA's headquarters, which is still based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Finish: gilt.
Fitting: buttonhole stud.
Imprint: no maker's name or mark.
Approximate age: 1900's to 1950's.

CONDITION:
Excellent condition. No damage. Gilt worn.
