Tressa "Laser Beam" automatic – recently returned from a long-term orbital mission
For sale: one swiss-made tressa "laser beam" automatic from the glorious 1970s – an era when mankind had just reached the moon, science fiction looked like a documentary, and watch designers genuinely believed we would all be commuting to work in personal spacecraft by the year 2000.
Looking at this watch, it is easy to see why.
The futuristic ufo-style stainless steel case looks less like a watch and more like something that should require clearance from air traffic control.
Inside beats a swiss ,,AS 2066" automatic movement with 21 jewels – a movement so stubbornly reliable that it appears to have survived events that would have caused lesser mechanisms to seek professional counselling.
This particular watch has recently undergone a careful revival after spending many years quietly observing humanity from the sidelines.
Evidence suggests that at some point during its distinguished career an incident occurred.
A serious one.
Possibly involving gravity.
Possibly involving velocity.
Possibly involving a door frame, a concrete wall, an angry toolbox, or an unscheduled atmospheric re-entry.
The official investigation remains inconclusive.
What is known is this:
The case was wounded.
The crystal suffered.
The 12 o'clock marker abandoned its post and spent an unknown period orbiting freely beneath the crystal like a tiny lost satellite searching for home.
Meanwhile the movement simply carried on.
No complaints.
No drama.
No excuses.
Just quietly doing its swiss thing.
As a result, i can confidently report that the as 2066 movement proved considerably tougher than the supposedly armoured case surrounding it.
Following a successful rescue operation in recent days, the wandering astronaut has been safely returned to the dial, the watch has been carefully revived, and normal service has resumed.
Today this green cosmic veteran once again looks exactly as a proper 1970s "space age" watch should.
The dial is absolutely stunning.
Depending on the light it shifts from deep emerald green to a bright metallic laser-like glow that explains perfectly why someone decided to call this model:

I cannot completely rule it out either.
What i can confirm is that after more than fifty years this wonderful old machine is still ticking away and attracting attention exactly as its designers intended.
Not many watches can honestly claim to have survived a suspected orbital incident and lived to tell the tale.
