Fabulous & Unusual Large Blue and White 12.5" Charger or Display Plate by Wood & Sons in the Aesthetic Movement Inspired "Arabesque" Pattern

I am continuing my effort to downsize, in advance of all our possessions having to go back into storage again in the next few months (the builders keep changing the dates!)

I have quite the selection of Blue and White and Willow Pattern which I have collected over the years and used for buffets, afternoon teas, and for display on my kitchen dresser, (which I no longer have) but I have too much for my needs, and so this fabulous plate can now go!

For sale here is a Fabulous & Unusual Large Blue and White 12.5” Charger or Display Plate by Wood & Sons in the Aesthetic Movement Inspired “Arabesque” Pattern

This plate is most unusual and spoke to me as I collect Aesthetic Movement ceramics which date to between 1860 to 1900. This is a modernish plate inspired by this earlier movement. Wood & Sons operated from Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire from 1865 to 2005, so this pattern was most likely inspired by their own early back catalogue of Aesthetic Movement patterns.

The centre of the plate is plain white. Outside of that is a band with an abstract repeat pattern with banana-like shapes. Outside of that again is a wide decorative blue and white band featuring various abstract and decorative repeat patterns in different shapes and sizes in the asymmetric Aesthetic Movement style.
These details make for a very striking and unusual overall composition.

This large charger plate, or display plate measures 12.5 inch/32 cm in diameter, so a very striking large piece, which would be an amazing feature plate on a blue and white plate wall.

The plate is in excellent vintage condition. The colour is bright and there are no cracks or crazing, as good as the day it was made.

Perfect for use as a serving plate, or for display on a kitchen dresser or feature plate wall. You won’t find another one! This appears to be a very rare pattern, with only a couple of examples available online, and no plates this size.

I will have other willow pattern and blue and white items coming soon and recently listed, so check out my other ads and more coming soon! Discounts possible for multiple purchases!
