For sale is a membership badge of the BLUE CROSS JUNIOR BRANCH. The Blue Cross was a registered animal welfare charity in the United Kingdom and was established in 1897 as ‘Our Dumb Friends League’ (ODFL). The charity provides support for pet owners who cannot afford private veterinary treatment, helps to find homes for unwanted animals and educates the public in the responsibilities of pet ownership.
In 1912 the ODFL launched their 'Blue Cross Fund' and in 1958 they were renamed as The Blue Cross. The Blue Cross was in turn rebranded and renamed as 'Blue Cross' in 2011 and adopted as their new slogan "For Pets".
