For sale is a membership enamel badge of the DORSET REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION. This badge shows the regimental crest and includes the Sphinx/Marabout icon.

The Sphinx and marabout elements of the crest refer to the 1801 victory of the 54th Regiment of Foot when they captured Fort Marabout, Egypt. The combined Spinx and title Marabout was in use with the Dorset Regiment since 1847. Thereafter, the Sphinx and Marabout continued to be incorporated into all their regimental badges.
