For sale is a silver 20 years long-service badge complete with its original presentation case. The badge’s text reads ENGLISH ELECTRIC - 20 YEARS. This badge is fully hallmarked for Thomas Fattorini Ltd of Birmingham, 1969.

The English Electric Company Ltd (December 1918-1968) was formed in the wake of World War I by amalgamating five businesses which during the war made munitions, armaments and military aircraft. The company set about becoming a leading manufacturer of electric motors and transformers, locomotives and traction equipment, diesel motors and steam turbines. Later they diversified into consumer electronics, guided missiles, military aircraft and mainframe computers. In 1968, English Electric was merged with the General Electric Company (GEC). English Electric are probably best known for the design and development of their two military aircraft; the Canberra jet bomber/reconnaissance jet and the Lightening jet fighter in service from 1960 to 1988.They are also renowned for their range of locomotives of which the best known are their Deltic diesels.

The five companies that formed English Electric in 1918 were:

• The Coventry Ordnance Works
• Phoenix Dynamo Manufacturing Company
• Dick, Kerr & Company
• United Electric Car Company
• Willans & Robinson.
