For sale is a centenary commemorative badge issued in 1968 by the Borough of Huddersfield Corporation. This badge shows the municipal crest of the time, a ram's head holding a sprig of cotton-tree in its mouth. The use of the ram in Huddersfield's municipal crest was taken from the cost of arms of the Ramsden family, who owned the manor from 1599 until 1920 that included Huddersfield town. The town was part of that manor until the municipal corporation bought its freehold from the Ramsden family in 1920 for £1.3 million.

The Borough of Huddersfield was established in 1868 and was abolished in 1974 when it amalgamated with others to form the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees.
