For sale is a vintage enamelled badge of the JACQUELINE KNOWLES ACADEMY OF DANCING. The Knowles academy was a children's dance school based in Reading and which also staged local shows that starred its pupils. The dance school taught various forms of dance and was renowned for its success in teaching ballet. I believe this is a very scarce to rare badge.

- Reading Standard, Friday 17th April 1953 (a photo of the Academy's young dancers who performed a Spring Pantomine at the Palmer Hall, Reading).

- Reading Standard, Friday 5th June 1953 (principal J. J. Knowles A.I.D.M.A.(Stage Comm) announces opening of a new studio at the Central Liberal Club, Broad Street, Reading).

- Reading Standard, Friday 11th December 1953 ('Starlets on Parade' taking place at the Reading Palace Theatre, a display of dancing on 21st December 1953). The Palace Theatre in Reading, opened 1907 and closed 1960, demolished 1961.

CONDITION:
Excellent condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Badge looks better in the hand, photos do not do it justice.
