For sale is a 1961 resident camper's badge issued for the Butlin's holiday camp at Skegness in Lincolnshire. The Skegness holiday camp was opened in 1936 and was Billy Butlin's first Butlins styled holiday camp. The camp was an immediate success and and was further expanded with increased accommodation. Skegness issued its own designs of badges annually from 1936 to 1967. Most of the Skegness badges depict The Jolly Fisherman, an iconic advertising mascot originally created for a Great Northern Railway poster in 1908. Skegness adopted The Jolly Fisherman as the town's mascot.

Butlins Skegness underwent major refurbishments during the late 1980's and in 1987 the holiday camp was rebranded as Funcoast World. Following completion of the 1998/1999 redevelopment, the Funcoast World name was dropped and the Butlins name revived, now rebranded as Butlins Resort Skegness. The holiday camp at Skegness was only one of three selected to become a Butlin's resort. Incidentally, one of the original Butlins chalets built there in 1936 still exists and has been preserved as a Grade II listed building.
