Diecast Vintage Corgi Toys Bentley Continental S2 Sports Saloon - Good Repaint by Seller/No Box

Being sold from my personal model collection is this pre-owned vintage Corgi Toys diecast model of a 1959/1963 Bentley Continental S2 Sports Saloon bodied by H J Mulliner. It is a “ REPAINT ” by the seller. Model was bought new by seller in 1962.

** GOOD REPAINT VINTAGE CORGI TOYS MODEL WITHOUT ORIGINAL BOX **

* Corgi Toys released No224, Bentley Continental S2 Sports bodied by H J Mulliner, in 1961 at a UK price of 7/6. It was originally available in two variations, black/silver or two-tone green at 1:48 scale. Green & white plus gold colour variants were added later. The model had many features including jewelled head and taillights, opening boot with spare wheel with tyre, “Glidamatic” suspension and innovative fingertip self-centring steering. In addition, the Bentley has chrome bumpers and radiator grille with “Flying” B mascot. Corgi withdrew the Bentley from the range in 1965.

* The Bentley S2, succeeded S1, and was called, at its launch in 1959, the most luxurious and innovative saloons in the world. The S2 had the new Rolls-Royce–Bentley L-Series V8 engine. It also had improved air conditioning made possible by that engine's increased output. Power steering was also standard, and a new dashboard and steering wheel were introduced. The L-Series V8 engine, with a capacity of 6,230cc, offered significantly improved performance compared to the S1. Total S2 standard length chassis production was 1,863. Mulliner created the rarest version, the S2 Drophead Coupe, of which only 15 examples were built.
* An "S2 Continental" chassis was built with higher performance engines and higher gearing for lighter bodywork. 388 were built, bodied by the same group of coachbuilders as the standard S2.
