* Aston Martin launched the DB2/4 MkIII in 1957. It was an evolution of the DB2/4 Mark II model it replaced, using an evolution of that car's W.O. Bentley-designed Lagonda 2.9 Litre 6-cylinder engine, redesigned by Tadek Marek. It featured a grille similar to the competition DB3S, a new instrument panel and Girling disc brakes. Other updates included a hydraulic clutch. Later, overdrive or automatic gearbox options were made available. It still used its predecessor’s worm-and-sector steering and live rear axle arrangement. Rear lights from the Humber Hawk were added to modified tail fins.
* The DB2/4 Mark III was available in Saloon (4-seater Coupe) or Convertible body styles. The Saloon (Coupe) featured the hatchback body first seen on the DB2/4 MkI & MkII.
* The 6-cylinder in-line DOHC 12 valve 2,922cc engine was fitted with twin SU carburettors giving 162 bhp @ 5,500 rpm increased to 178 bhp @ 5,500rpm with twin exhaust pipes.
