Diecast Model Le Mans Winning Aston Martin DBR1 1959 1st - Quartzo 1:43

Being sold from my personal model collection is a pre-owned 1:43 scale diecast model car by Quartzo of the 1959 Le Mans winning Aston Martin DBR1, Aston Martin’s only overall victory in this very famous race to date. Quartzo were part of the Vitesse Group of Portugal.

* This diecast model from Quartzo is from about 25 years ago. Considering its age, the model quality and detail are quite good, standing comparison with more recent diecast models.

* The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 was the 27th Grand Prix of Endurance.
* Entered by David Brown Racing Dept. there were three works DBR1/300s in the 1959 Le Mans race. In practice the Aston Martins were slower than the 3 works Ferrari and a private D Type Jaguar.
* Moss, in Aston Martin number 4, was first away and drove at a pace to try to break the Ferrari opposition. The early hours were Moss leading 3 Ferraris with the other 2 Aston Martins back in 8th and 9th. The first works Ferrari retired after 4 hours but Moss retired after 6 hours. Number 5 Aston Martin of Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby moved up to the front of the field and fought with the remaining two work Ferraris. Both remaining works Ferrari’s retired after 10 and 20 hours leaving two Aston Martins at the front. This was Aston Martin's finest hour with a dominant 1-2 outright finish.
* Aston Martin would go onto win the 1959 World Constructors Championship after which they withdrew the works team from motorsport competition.
* The DBR1/300 was powered by the Aston Martin 6 cylinder in line DOHC engine of 2,992cc with 3 Weber 45 DCO carburettors giving 250 bhp at 6,000 rpm.

* Very good quality, diecast model in very good condition. It displays very well.
* Model is in its own clear plastic display case and with all its original outer printed cardboard packaging.
* Please examine photographs for condition of model, display case and outer packaging.
* Model has been on display in a glass fronted cabinet.
