Diecast Model Le Mans Winning Jaguar C Type XK120 1951 1st - Quartzo 1:43

Being sold from my personal model collection is a pre-owned 1:43 scale diecast model car by Quartzo of the 1951 Le Mans winning Jaguar C Type XK120, Jaguar’s first victory in this very famous race. Quartzo were part of the Vitesse Group of Portugal.

* This diecast model from Quartzo is from about 25 years ago. Considering its age, the model quality and detail are quite good, standing comparison with more recent diecast models.

* The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951 was the 19th Grand Prix of Endurance.
* It was won by Peter Walker and Peter Whitehead who completed 267 laps in their works-entered Jaguar XK120C-Type, the first Le Mans win for the marque.
* Jaguar Cars Ltd entered three of their new works XK120C-Tpye cars in the 1951 Le Mans race. 'C' stood for competition. Designed in secrecy, these highly modified XK120s were 450 kg lighter and the 3.4 Litre engines developed 205 bhp giving a top speed of 160 mph (257 kph). The driver pairings were Fairman with a young Stirling Moss, Walker with Whitehead and Johnson with multiple Mille Miglia winner Clemente Biondetti. The team was managed by Lofty England. Two of the three C-Types retired relatively early, 5hrs (oil pump) & 9 hrs (engine). However, car number 20, driven by Walker & Whitehead, won by 9 laps from a Talbot-Lago. Despite 16 hours of rain they covered 267 laps, a new distance record of 3,600 km.
* The XK120C-Type was powered by the Jaguar XK 6 cylinder in line DOHC engine of 3,442cc with 2 SU carburettors giving 205 bhp at 5,800 rpm (1951 initial specification).

* Very good quality, diecast model in very good condition. It displays very well.
* Model is in its own clear plastic display case and with all its original outer printed cardboard packaging.
